Today\u2019s study aims to analyze the identity of the “seven spirits<\/mark>“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n First, I would like to briefly present the existing interpretations. They are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. They represent the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity:<\/strong> The number 7 in Scripture is a symbol of perfection and completeness. Many interpret the “seven spirits<\/mark>” as a symbolic reference to the Holy Spirit. Here, many Trinitarians understand this account as referring to the third person of the Trinity. John would have seen the Holy Spirit before the throne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. They represent the Holy Spirit of God:<\/strong> Another interpretation is similar to the one presented above. The difference, however, is that here the Holy Spirit is not seen as the third person of the Trinity, but rather as the manifestation of the Spirit of God. Some people who do not believe in the Trinity follow this interpretation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. These are the seven spirits mentioned in Isaiah 11:2:<\/strong> Some people relate these seven spirits to the seven characteristics (or spirits) presented in Isaiah 11:2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. They are seven angels of God:<\/strong> Another interpretation is that these spirits are seven angels before the throne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But after all, who are these “seven spirits<\/mark>” that Revelation 4:5 mentions? To discover the correct interpretation, we need to consider the context of the chapter and the other visions present in the book of Revelation. Let\u2019s begin by reading the context of this passage:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Revelation 4:2-6 – “And immediately I was in the Spirit, and, behold, a throne<\/strong> was set in heaven<\/strong>, and one sat on the throne<\/strong>. And he who sat was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and a rainbow was around the throne, and its appearance was like an emerald. And around the throne<\/strong> were twenty-four thrones<\/strong>; and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders<\/strong> sitting, clothed in white robes, and they had crowns of gold on their heads. And out of the throne came lightnings, and thunders, and rumblings; and before the throne<\/strong> were burning seven lamps of fire, which are the seven Spirits of God<\/strong>. And before the throne<\/strong> was a sea of \u200b\u200bglass<\/strong>, like crystal<\/strong>. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures<\/strong> full of eyes, before and behind<\/mark>“<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n What relevant information can we extract from this brief context?<\/p>\n\n\n\n The vision presents the “seven spirits<\/mark>” as “fire lamps<\/mark>“. These “seven spirits<\/mark>” remain “before the throne<\/mark>“, which also has a “sea of glass<\/mark>” before it. From this, we can conclude that the “seven spirits<\/mark>” are on the “sea of glass<\/mark>“. There are also 24 elders and 4 living creatures near the throne. We can infer that these “seven spirits<\/mark>” are visible entities (beings), as John describes them alongside the 24 elders and the 4 living creatures before the throne. John describes them as “fire lamps<\/mark>“. In the Bible, there are two associations made with fire: one for the Holy Spirit and another for angels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Acts 2:3,4 – “And there appeared unto them cloven tongues, as of fire<\/strong>, and it sat upon each of them.
