Psalms 119:12 – “Blessed are You, O Lord; teach me Your statutes“
David’s prayer in Psalm 119:12 reflects a deep desire to know and follow God’s ways. David demonstrates that he was asking God for instruction. In a world filled with distractions and confusion, we constantly seek to understand God’s will for our lives. In this verse, David not only acknowledges God’s greatness but also asks Him to teach him. This attitude of humility and surrender is essential in our Christian walk. When we ask God to teach us, we acknowledge our dependence on Him and our need for His guidance.
The truth is that without God’s direction, we cannot make wise decisions. The world offers many paths, but only God can show us the one that leads to a fulfilled life. When we ask to be taught, we express a desire to learn God’s principles, align our lives with His decrees, and walk in obedience. This is a daily journey that requires patience, trust, and a heart that is always willing to learn.
However, this teaching does not come through words or books alone. God instructs us through His Word, the Holy Spirit, and life experiences. He often uses difficult times to shape us and teach us valuable lessons about faith, perseverance, and love. Therefore, as we pray like David, asking God to teach us, we must also be open to learning from everyday situations and willing to apply His teachings in our lives.
In short, asking God to teach us is an act of trust and surrender. When we seek His guidance, we choose to follow the path of truth, justice, and peace. And as we do so, our lives are transformed.
Prayer: Asking God for Teaching
Lord, You are the source of all wisdom. Teach me Your decrees and guide my life according to Your will. May I always have a heart willing to learn from You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
