John 5:24 – “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life“
In this verse, Jesus offers us one of the most life-changing promises in Scripture: eternal life. He declares that whoever hears His word and believes in the Father who sent Him already has this eternal life. From Death to Life is the journey that every believer experiences when accepting the message of Christ. It is not just a future hope, but a present reality that begins the moment we believe.
As we meditate on this truth, we realize that Jesus not only promised eternal life, but He also assured us that those who believe in Him have already passed from death to life. This means that in Christ, we are no longer condemned to eternal judgment. Instead, we are freed from the power of sin and death and given a new identity as children of God. This radical transformation happens when we hear the word of Jesus and receive it in faith.
From Death to Life also reminds us of the importance of hearing and believing. Hearing the word of Jesus is not just a physical act, but a spiritual engagement. It means opening our hearts to His message, allowing it to transform us. Believing, in turn, is trusting fully in Jesus’ sacrifice and the Father’s promise. When we do this, we experience the reality of eternal life, which fills us with peace, joy, and purpose.
So today, reflect on this promise. If you have already believed in Jesus, celebrate the eternal life you already have. If you do not yet know Him, know that He is ready to lead you from death to life. Just listen to His word, believe in Him, and receive the gift of salvation.
