Matthew 13:17 – “For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it“
The privilege of knowing the truth is something Jesus emphasized to His disciples. He explained that many prophets and righteous people of the past had longed to see and hear what they were experiencing, but they did not have that opportunity. These men and women of faith longed for the revelation of the Messiah, but it was not until the fullness of time that God revealed His Son to the world.
Today, we live in a time where God’s Word is more accessible than ever before. We can read the Scriptures, study the teachings of Jesus, and commune with God through the Holy Spirit. However, we often take for granted the privilege of knowing the truth. We get caught up in routine and neglect the riches that are within our reach.
We must reflect: do we value knowledge of the truth as we should? Do we prioritize reading the Bible? Do we seek spiritual growth? Or do we treat divine revelation with indifference? Jesus reminds us that there is a great blessing in seeing and hearing the truth. This truth transforms lives, renews hope, and draws us closer to the Father.
Therefore, we must open our spiritual eyes and ears to perceive the greatness of what we have been given. God has granted us something that many desired but did not have. May we take full advantage of this gift, seeking to grow in grace and knowledge, and sharing with others the truth that liberates and gives life.
